Illustration, artwork, sculpture, squirrel wrangling. I really love the idea of airships and wanted to do something in a romantic setting with soft lighting, so I painted this as a Valentine for 2011. A blind date in a noodle shop somewhere, high above the clouds! I was experimenting with a faster, looser style here, with selective rendering and mostly flat colors. I wanted to play with the idea of giving an animal that is often depicted as timid and meek an air of power and accomplishment.
